Ad-Duha

وَٱلضُّحَىٰwal-ḍuḥāBy the morning brightness

wal-ḍuḥā

By the morning sunlight,

وَٱلَّيۡلِwa-al-layliAnd the nightإِذَاidhāwhenسَجَىٰsajāit covers with darkness

wa-al-layli idhā sajā

and the night when it falls still!

مَاmāNotوَدَّعَكَwaddaʿakahas forsaken youرَبُّكَrabbukayour Lordوَمَاwamāand notقَلَىٰqalāHe is displeased

mā waddaʿaka rabbuka wamā qalā

Your Lord ˹O Prophet˺ has not abandoned you, nor has He become hateful ˹of you˺.

وَلَلۡأٓخِرَةُwalalākhiratuAnd surely the Hereafterخَيۡرٞkhayrun(is) betterلَّكَlakafor youمِنَminathanٱلۡأُولَىٰl-ūlāthe first

walalākhiratu khayrun laka mina l-ūlā

And the next life is certainly far better for you than this one.

وَلَسَوۡفَwalasawfaAnd soonيُعۡطِيكَyuʿ'ṭīkawill give youرَبُّكَrabbukayour Lordفَتَرۡضَىٰٓfatarḍāthen you will be satisfied

walasawfa yuʿ'ṭīka rabbuka fatarḍā

And ˹surely˺ your Lord will give so much to you that you will be pleased.

أَلَمۡalamDid notيَجِدۡكَyajid'kaHe find youيَتِيمٗاyatīmanan orphanفَـَٔاوَىٰfaāwāand give shelter

alam yajid'ka yatīman faāwā

Did He not find you as an orphan then sheltered you?

وَوَجَدَكَwawajadakaAnd He found youضَآلّٗاḍāllanlostفَهَدَىٰfahadāso He guided

wawajadaka ḍāllan fahadā

Did He not find you unguided then guided you?

وَوَجَدَكَwawajadakaAnd He found youعَآئِلٗاʿāilanin needفَأَغۡنَىٰfa-aghnāso He made self-sufficient

wawajadaka ʿāilan fa-aghnā

And did He not find you needy then satisfied your needs?

فَأَمَّاfa-ammāSo as forٱلۡيَتِيمَl-yatīmathe orphanفَلَاfalāthen (do) notتَقۡهَرۡtaqharoppress

fa-ammā l-yatīma falā taqhar

So do not oppress the orphan,

وَأَمَّاwa-ammāAnd as forٱلسَّآئِلَl-sāilaone who asksفَلَاfalāthen (do) notتَنۡهَرۡtanharrepel

wa-ammā l-sāila falā tanhar

nor repulse the beggar.

وَأَمَّاwa-ammāBut as forبِنِعۡمَةِbiniʿ'mati(the) Favorرَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lordفَحَدِّثۡfaḥaddithnarrate

wa-ammā biniʿ'mati rabbika faḥaddith

And proclaim the blessings of your Lord.
