Al-Fil

أَلَمۡalamHave notتَرَtarayou seenكَيۡفَkayfahowفَعَلَfaʿaladealtرَبُّكَrabbukayour Lordبِأَصۡحَٰبِbi-aṣḥābiwith (the) Companionsٱلۡفِيلِl-fīli(of the) Elephant

alam tara kayfa faʿala rabbuka bi-aṣḥābi l-fīli

Have you not seen ˹O Prophet˺ how your Lord dealt with the Army of the Elephant?

أَلَمۡalamDid notيَجۡعَلۡyajʿalHe makeكَيۡدَهُمۡkaydahumtheir planفِيfīgoتَضۡلِيلٖtaḍlīlinastray

alam yajʿal kaydahum fī taḍlīlin

Did He not frustrate their scheme?

وَأَرۡسَلَwa-arsalaAnd He sentعَلَيۡهِمۡʿalayhimagainst themطَيۡرًاṭayranbirdsأَبَابِيلَabābīla(in) flocks

wa-arsala ʿalayhim ṭayran abābīla

For He sent against them flocks of birds,

تَرۡمِيهِمtarmīhimStriking themبِحِجَارَةٖbiḥijāratinwith stonesمِّنminofسِجِّيلٖsijjīlinbaked clay

tarmīhim biḥijāratin min sijjīlin

that pelted them with stones of baked clay,

فَجَعَلَهُمۡfajaʿalahumThen He made themكَعَصۡفٖkaʿaṣfinlike strawمَّأۡكُولِۭmakūlineaten up

fajaʿalahum kaʿaṣfin makūlin

leaving them like chewed up straw.
