Al-Bayyinah

لَمۡlamNotيَكُنِyakuniwereٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواْkafarūdisbelievedمِنۡminfromأَهۡلِahli(the) Peopleٱلۡكِتَٰبِl-kitābiof the Bookوَٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَwal-mush'rikīnaand the polytheistsمُنفَكِّينَmunfakkīnato be abandonedحَتَّىٰḥattāuntilتَأۡتِيَهُمُtatiyahumu(there) comes to themٱلۡبَيِّنَةُl-bayinatuthe clear evidence

lam yakuni alladhīna kafarū min ahli l-kitābi wal-mush'rikīna munfakkīna ḥattā tatiyahumu l-bayinatu

The disbelievers from the People of the Book and the polytheists were not going to desist ˹from disbelief˺ until the clear proof came to them:

رَسُولٞrasūlunA Messengerمِّنَminafromٱللَّهِl-lahiAllahيَتۡلُواْyatlūrecitingصُحُفٗاṣuḥufanpagesمُّطَهَّرَةٗmuṭahharatanpurified

rasūlun mina l-lahi yatlū ṣuḥufan muṭahharatan

a messenger from Allah, reciting scrolls of ˹utmost˺ purity,

فِيهَاfīhāWhereinكُتُبٞkutubun(are) writingsقَيِّمَةٞqayyimatuncorrect

fīhā kutubun qayyimatun

containing upright commandments.

وَمَاwamāAnd notتَفَرَّقَtafarraqabecame dividedٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoأُوتُواْūtūwere givenٱلۡكِتَٰبَl-kitābathe Bookإِلَّاillāuntilمِنۢminfromبَعۡدِbaʿdiafterمَاmāwhatجَآءَتۡهُمُjāathumucame (to) themٱلۡبَيِّنَةُl-bayinatu(of) the clear evidence

wamā tafarraqa alladhīna ūtū l-kitāba illā min baʿdi mā jāathumu l-bayinatu

It was not until this clear proof came to the People of the Book that they became divided ˹about his prophethood˺—

وَمَآwamāAnd notأُمِرُوٓاْumirūthey were commandedإِلَّاillāexceptلِيَعۡبُدُواْliyaʿbudūto worshipٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahمُخۡلِصِينَmukh'liṣīna(being) sincereلَهُlahuto Himٱلدِّينَl-dīna(in) the religionحُنَفَآءَḥunafāauprightوَيُقِيمُواْwayuqīmūand to establishٱلصَّلَوٰةَl-ṣalatathe prayerوَيُؤۡتُواْwayu'tūand to giveٱلزَّكَوٰةَۚl-zakatathe zakahوَذَٰلِكَwadhālikaAnd thatدِينُdīnu(is the) religionٱلۡقَيِّمَةِl-qayimatithe correct

wamā umirū illā liyaʿbudū l-laha mukh'liṣīna lahu l-dīna ḥunafāa wayuqīmū l-ṣalata wayu'tū l-zakata wadhālika dīnu l-qayimati

even though they were only commanded to worship Allah ˹alone˺ with sincere devotion to Him in all uprightness, establish prayer, and pay alms-tax. That is the upright Way.

إِنَّinnaIndeedٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواْkafarūdisbelieveمِنۡminfromأَهۡلِahli(the) Peopleٱلۡكِتَٰبِl-kitābi(of) the Bookوَٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَwal-mush'rikīnaand the polytheistsفِيfī(will be) inنَارِnāri(the) Fireجَهَنَّمَjahannama(of) Hellخَٰلِدِينَkhālidīnaabiding eternallyفِيهَآۚfīhāthereinأُوْلَٰٓئِكَulāikaThose هُمۡhumtheyشَرُّsharru(are the) worstٱلۡبَرِيَّةِl-bariyati(of) the creatures

inna alladhīna kafarū min ahli l-kitābi wal-mush'rikīna fī nāri jahannama khālidīna fīhā ulāika hum sharru l-bariyati

Indeed, those who disbelieve from the People of the Book and the polytheists will be in the Fire of Hell, to stay there forever. They are the worst of ˹all˺ beings.

إِنَّinnaIndeedٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoءَامَنُواْāmanūbelieveوَعَمِلُواْwaʿamilūand doٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِl-ṣāliḥātirighteous deedsأُوْلَٰٓئِكَulāikathose هُمۡhumtheyخَيۡرُkhayru(are the) bestٱلۡبَرِيَّةِl-bariyati(of) the creatures

inna alladhīna āmanū waʿamilū l-ṣāliḥāti ulāika hum khayru l-bariyati

Indeed, those who believe and do good—they are the best of ˹all˺ beings.

جَزَآؤُهُمۡjazāuhumTheir rewardعِندَʿinda(is) withرَبِّهِمۡrabbihimtheir Lord جَنَّٰتُjannātuGardensعَدۡنٖʿadnin(of) Eternityتَجۡرِيtajrīflowمِنminfromتَحۡتِهَاtaḥtihāunderneath themٱلۡأَنۡهَٰرُl-anhāruthe riversخَٰلِدِينَkhālidīnawill abideفِيهَآfīhāthereinأَبَدٗاۖabadanforeverرَّضِيَraḍiya(will be) pleasedٱللَّهُl-lahuAllahعَنۡهُمۡʿanhumwith themوَرَضُواْwaraḍūand they (will be) pleasedعَنۡهُۚʿanhuwith HimذَٰلِكَdhālikaThatلِمَنۡliman(is) for whoeverخَشِيَkhashiyafearedرَبَّهُۥrabbahuhis Lord

jazāuhum ʿinda rabbihim jannātu ʿadnin tajrī min taḥtihā l-anhāru khālidīna fīhā abadan raḍiya l-lahu ʿanhum waraḍū ʿanhu dhālika liman khashiya rabbahu

Their reward with their Lord will be Gardens of Eternity, under which rivers flow, to stay there for ever and ever. Allah is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him. This is ˹only˺ for those in awe of their Lord.
