Al-Ma'un

أَرَءَيۡتَara-aytaHave you seenٱلَّذِيalladhīthe one whoيُكَذِّبُyukadhibudeniesبِٱلدِّينِbil-dīnithe Judgment

ara-ayta alladhī yukadhibu bil-dīni

Have you seen the one who denies the ˹final˺ Judgment?

فَذَٰلِكَfadhālikaThen thatٱلَّذِيalladhī(is) the one whoيَدُعُّyaduʿʿurepulsesٱلۡيَتِيمَl-yatīmathe orphan

fadhālika alladhī yaduʿʿu l-yatīma

That is the one who repulses the orphan,

وَلَاwalāAnd (does) notيَحُضُّyaḥuḍḍufeel the urgeعَلَىٰʿalātoطَعَامِṭaʿāmifeedٱلۡمِسۡكِينِl-mis'kīnithe poor

walā yaḥuḍḍu ʿalā ṭaʿāmi l-mis'kīni

and does not encourage the feeding of the poor.

فَوَيۡلٞfawaylunSo woeلِّلۡمُصَلِّينَlil'muṣallīnato those who pray

fawaylun lil'muṣallīna

So woe to those ˹hypocrites˺ who pray

ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnaThose whoهُمۡhum[they]عَنʿanaboutصَلَاتِهِمۡṣalātihimtheir prayersسَاهُونَsāhūna(are) neglectful

alladhīna hum ʿan ṣalātihim sāhūna

yet are unmindful of their prayers;

ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnaThose whoهُمۡhum[they]يُرَآءُونَyurāūnamake show

alladhīna hum yurāūna

those who ˹only˺ show off,

وَيَمۡنَعُونَwayamnaʿūnaAnd they denyٱلۡمَاعُونَl-māʿūna[the] small kindnesses

wayamnaʿūna l-māʿūna

and refuse to give ˹even the simplest˺ aid.
